“And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.” Matthew 7:25.
When Hurricane Ike hit the Gulf Coast in 2008, there was one photo that made the rounds on the news. A single yellow house stood alone as a visual image of preparedness against a backdrop of total devastation. It reminded me of this verse.
The owners of that home had built with hurricanes in mind – they expected winds! Pretty similar to how life should be lived. Consistent, continuous prayer is one step towards preparing us for hurricanes. It’s what helps build our lives on the Rock, making life hurricanes not just a lesson in survival but a workout in learning how to thrive.
May today be the day you cease surviving and begin thriving! God be with you!
